Sulieman Bani-Ahmad

Professor of Data Science.

Sulieman Bani-Ahmad received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering at Jordan University of Science and Technology in 1999. He received his master’s degree in Computer Science from the School of Information Technology at Al-Albayt University in Jordan in 2001. Bani-Ahmad received his Ph.D. degree in Computing and Information Science from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Case Western Reserve University (Case School of Engineering), Cleveland, Ohio, USA, in 2008. He is presently a professor at Al-Balqa Applied University. Bani-Ahmad’s research interests cover topics from High-performance computing, web computing, and Online Literature Digital Libraries. Bani-Ahmad has served as the chairman of the Computer Information Systems department at Al-Balqa Applied University. He also served as an assistant dean for Planning, Development, and Quality Assurance for the School of Information Technology at Al-Balqa Applied University. He also served as the chairperson of the Department of Intelligent Systems at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and as the Vice-dean of the same faculty for three years (at Al-Balqa Applied University). Currently, he is a visiting professor at Jordan University of Science and Technology (Computer Science Department).

Bani-Ahmad’s primary research interests lie at the intersection of Data Science, Intelligent Systems, and Web Computing, with contributions to Digital Libraries, Information Retrieval, and High-Performance Computing.

A key aspect of his professional activity is the development of practical software solutions for education. He is the lead architect of “Project X,” a suite of software tools (including X-Pro Milestone, X-Swift, and X-Rhythm) specifically designed to support e-learning, automated assessment, and academic analytics.

With a good publication record, he has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences. His research has been recognized with awards, including a Best Paper Award at the IADIS International Conference on Information Systems.

Professionally, he is an active member of several societies, including IEEE and ACM, and has served in various editorial and peer-review capacities for international journals and conferences. He has also held significant leadership roles, such as Vice Dean and Department Chair at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Al-Balqa Applied University, where he contributed to curriculum development and academic administration. He is currently a Visiting Professor at Jordan University of Science and Technology.
